Summary
The largest of all living turtle species, Pacific Leatherbacks are one of seven turtle species which can be found in Raja Ampat’s biodiverse waters. While snorkeling and diving, guests may encounter these mammoths which weigh up to 700 kilograms as adults.

One of the most remarkable aspects of leatherback turtles is their ability to endure extreme temperatures. Unlike other sea turtles, they have a thick layer of insulating fat and a unique blood vessel system that allows them to regulate their body temperature, enabling them to thrive in cold waters.
